GEM has 5 gospel saturated schools – three in Mexico, one in Colombia, and one in Uganda. Most, if not all, of our missionary teachers are at our schools in Mexico. So, what is it like teaching abroad in Mexico? Well, to answer that, let’s hear from some of our teachers serving there now…
“Through my time teaching abroad in Mexico with Global Education Ministries, the Lord has really opened my eyes to these important truths – that the Lord is at work and calling individuals with unique gifts, talents, and abilities to take part in the kingdom-building work He is doing all over the world. Even though we come from different cultures and backgrounds, all people were created for community and connection. We all want to feel like we belong and are accepted for who we are. As Christians, we serve a God who desires that same close connection with us, and who accepts us and calls us into community with Him. That is what the Gospel is about. That is the Gospel truth that I get to share with my students each and every day while teaching abroad in Mexico.”
Steven H., GEM Missionary Teacher in Mexico
“Teaching abroad in Mexico has allowed me to make connections and build relationships with the community of local teachers. While teaching abroad in Mexico, I get to freely share the gospel with my students and also eat really good food. I see no downside!
Teaching abroad in Mexico has me learning right alongside the students! One thing that I have learned while teaching abroad in Mexico is that no matter the location, my students are so amazing, live complex lives, and need to have Christ’s love shared with them.
What is my favorite part about teaching abroad in Mexico? The loving people, the stunning views, and the delicious food! Even though I’ve only been teaching abroad in Mexico for less than 2 weeks, I already feel like part of the team! Teaching abroad in Mexico has helped me understand God’s sovereignty and kindness in new, unique ways.”
Lydia K., GEM Missionary Teacher in Mexico & Former GEM Missionary Teacher in Colombia
“Teaching abroad in Mexico has changed my life and was an incredible calling from the Lord! It has been such an extraordinary experience to apply what I learned in college about teaching, but also having the freedom to teach in the ways that my students need! Being able to teach subjects, while centering topics around the Word of the Lord is such an incredible way to grow the future generation, but also to feel the Lord working in my life as well! Teaching abroad in Mexico has taught me that even though the Lord does not reveal things to you in the moment that they are happening, does not mean the Lord isn’t working in the hearts and lives of the students. He is constantly working, whether we see it or not, and He is using us to share the Gospel to a country that needs redemption!”
Elizabeth E., GEM Missionary Teacher in Mexico
God is at work around the world, and Global Education Ministries is playing a part in the global advancement of the gospel. Our international missionary teachers and national leaders, teachers, and staff invest daily into the lives of students and their families. Teaching abroad in Mexico is not always easy, but it is worth it when you see how the Lord is at work!
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38 ESV
